Eisenhower’s sister bank, Broadway Bank, was founded in 1941, near Fort Sam Houston, Texas, by Colonel Charles E. Cheever, Sr. Its purpose was to serve the military families living in the vicinity of Fort Sam Houston.
In 1943, Broadway opened a branch on Randolph AFB. From that date forward Broadway has always maintained a military department indicating a 54+ year commitment to serving the unique banking needs of service members, retirees and the civilian work force employed by the military.
In June 1973, Eisenhower Bank was chartered as a separate bank for military customers and was selected as the post bank for Fort Sam Houston. Permission was obtained from President Dwight D. Eisenhower’s family to use his name for this new military bank.
Eisenhower merged with the Broadway’s Randolph location and both became Eisenhower Bank.
Since that time, the bank has grown into one of the nation’s safest and most secure banks serving customer in 50 states, 3 US territories, and 21 foreign countries. The bank has added branches at Lackland AFB, Texas Training Annex (Medina); The Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio; Goodfellow AFB, Texas; Killeen, Texas, adjacent to Fort Hood; and the AMEDD Center and School on Fort Sam Houston.
