Joshua Rodriguez

Joshua Rodriguez started his career with Broadway Bank in February 2008 as Teller 1 and pursuing teller 2. Working at Broadway Bank has been a great change in my life. I have made so many wonderful friends that guide me to the right path and made me the person I am today. While working at Broadway Bank I have been playing softball, volleyball, tennis, kickball and now training for the Rock N Roll Marathon.

BBCC: What motivates you to volunteer?

Joshua: The smiles, laughs and “thank you’s” from all the people that I’ve met that motivate me to volunteer my time to give a helping hand to strangers and now I call them friends and family.

BBCC: You are a new employee and have been very active with the Care Corps Program. Is volunteering something you did prior to coming to Broadway?

Joshua: In fact about 8 years ago I had two back surgeries at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital. They took great care of me while I was there and that made me want to give back to the hospital and to the community. So I volunteered in the junior volunteer program helping in the recovery room, finance, child life and many other areas until 18 years of age. For the last five years I have been a part of the adult volunteer program. To know that I am helping others in need, or just simply talking to someone who needs a friend is priceless. The hospital is what made me volunteer and explore people and life.

BBCC: Could you share something about a person or experience you encountered while volunteering that really stands out in your mind?

Joshua: I have a lot of experiences that I have gained, but most importantly I have gained family. While volunteering at the hospital I have met all kinds of people, from doctors to cleaning crew and patients. They are the ones who taught me to push forward in life and let nothing stop me. The volunteer director is like a second mom to me. She has been my guidance for volunteering and teaching me the importance of helping others.  Seeing the smiles of people and kids at the hospital and to know that I made a difference is priceless.

BBCC: What would you say to others to encourage them to volunteer?

Joshua: Volunteering is something you should want to do. It’s a priceless gift of hope, faith, and love that we give back to our loved ones of the community. With all the spirit that surrounds volunteering I know that in my heart will live a piece of glorious minds of each human being. For what it’s worth, volunteering has no words that can explain the priceless gift of giving.
